I tried following the instructions here (option 1) and its not fixed. Have you found a solution to this? I'm having the exact same issue. Something in the way they're doing that must be related to what I've been seeing in my connections screen. My ISP ) appears to be transparently intercepting all PORT 53 traffic specifically directed to known alternate DNS servers and responding to it via ISP DNS servers. Well, after pulling the thread and peeling the onion on this here is what I've found out: Last edited by Gonzo_WRTer on Mon 14:33 edited 1 time in total
#Status unreplied dd wrt plus#
(3 or 4 PC's at any one time, plus several phones, a few tablets, an XBOX etc).ĭespite this, do these "unreplied" connections mean something is amis? The few blacked out items in the destination column are the main router's local IP.Īgain, the network seems to be functioning perfectly so far as all the clients are concerned. In this screen shot, the blocked out addresses on the source column include machines in the main LAN, traffic originating from the WAP, and the main router's external WAN address. All traffic from the guest network pointed at the main network gets dropped so the guest network is not doing anything with DNS so far as the main router is concerned.īut when I pull up active connections, I from time to time see quite a lot of "unreplied" requests on Port 53. The clients (wireless) on the guest network get assigned an IP in the right range they get the .1 virtual network address assigned as gateway and they get the google DNS servers assigned for DNS. The clients (wired and wireless) on the main LAN get assigned an IP in the right range they get the main router IP as gateway, and the main router IP as DNS server. I setup DNSMasq on that one pointing at the google DNS servers while I was configuring it, so I could watch DNS traffic and make sure my firewall rules between the main LAN and the guest LAN (internet only) were working. It has a guest network with a second IP range. The WAP is a second router configured as an access point. Under "Services" both "DNSMasq" and "Local DNS" are enabled. "Use DNSMasq for DHCP" and "Use DNSMasq for DNS" both checked. The first two static DNS entries point to OpenDNS servers. "Local DNS" on the Setup Page is set to the router's IP. The Gateway router is setup using DNSMasq for both DHCP and DNS. Posted: Mon 6:21 Post subject: Unreplied DNS requests?
